MYTH - CHOCOLATE
Chocolate causes pimples to appear.
MYTH - SUN
People have generally the feeling that summer weather solves the appearance of pimples and problems of oiliness. In summer, the comedones are reduced because with higher temperature, the flow of sweat increases and avoids clogging of follicles pores. On the other hand, the increase in temperature thins the sebum lipids, making their skin excretion easier and also prevents the accumulation within the follicle and its blockage. Sweat is also by itself an antiseptic product due to the high content of mineral salts and toxins.
MYTH – WASHING THE FACE REPEATEDLY RESOLVES PROBLEMS
Washing your face is a good habit because it contributes to healthy facial skin hygiene, and this is crucial to minimizing oily and blemish prone skin problems. However, one must keep in mind that excessively skin hygiene may have the opposite effect, and increase the risk of pimples appearing and skin oil secretion. Washing the skin too often can dehydrate it because it removes skin natural hydrating factors that ensure not only the water balance but also its elasticity. As a response to water scarcity skin may increase sebum secretion. Also skin excessive wash and rub can increase skin’s irritation. This applies even to oily skin!
MYTH - PRESSING PIMPLES HELPS
Squeezing pimples and blackheads does not solve nor reduce the problem. Quite the opposite, it aggravates the symptoms and it can cause scars that remain for life!
MYTH - PIMPLES AND A QUICK TREATMENT!
Pimples are the result of a complex process that comes from multiple factors. Internal body metabolic factors, such as hormonal imbalance, lead to excessive fat production by the sebaceous glands pores and their subsequent clogging. Due to such clogging, the bacteria that inhabits the skin begins to degrade these lipids, causing inflammation and redness in the infected spots. A product or treatment to solve quickly and definitely on a first attempt does not exist.
TIPS – CHOCOLATE
There are no scientific studies which prove that any specific food, including chocolate, is related pimples appearing. What has been proven is that drinking water is beneficial, as water helps flush the toxins that cause inflammation and skin blemishes.
TIPS - SUN
Exposure of the skin to the sun can cause a breakdown of collagen, which may contribute to the increased pore size. In addition to excessive sun exposure without protection can cause skin problems and health issues much more serious than pimples, so for all the reasons and a few more, sun exposure should always imply using proper protection. For blemish prone skin, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic sunscreens should be chosen.
TIPS - WASHING AND CLEANING THE FACE PROPERLY
Ideally, clean face twice or at the most three times a day, always using suitable products. There are other skin cleaning steps that are important, as, for example, in the case of using makeup is important to remove these skin products appropriately so that they are not in contact with the skin for unnecessary periods.
TIPS - KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM YOUR FACE!
Each press of a pimple may (in addition to causing discomfort and skin inflammation) contribute to pushing closed pores to deeper areas inside the skin, and can cause the sebaceous glands to burst. At the same time, since your hands are usually contaminated with more bacteria than your face, using your hands to squeeze pimples and blackheads may further contaminate your face with bacteria.
TIPS - DISCIPLINE ROUTINE AND PERSISTENCE
The best strategy to eliminate the unpleasant skin occurrences, such as pimples, and prevent them from returning, is to keep a daily routine of cleaning and application of suitable products. The perseverance and discipline in carrying out washing of the skin and the application of suitable products are the best weapons to prevent pimples from showing up!
